Are shoes responsible for all foot problems?
Many times, I have found that an improper sized shoe has led to the patient's complaints. Many people will wear the same shoe size for their whole life and not realize that their feet have changed. Wearing the same shoe when your are 60 as you did when you were 20 is like being 50 years old and being able to still fit in your wedding dress. For most people, this does not happen. In particular, corns, bunions, and ingrown toenails are significantly aggravated and made painful by wearing the wrong size shoe. That is why when patients come to our office, we always measure their feet and make sure that the proper sizes is worn, so that shoes do not cause them pain.
