Radiation Therapy and Heel Pain

A new study on radiation therapy proves to be good news for those suffering from painful heel spurs. The procedure, which aims a small beam of radiation at a specific part of the body, is designed to pinpoint the areas that cause heel spurs and eliminate the pain. “Radiation therapy has been used for its anti-inflammatory effect for more than 60 years,” says Marcus Niewald, MD, a radiation oncologist at Saarland University.  “We are very extremely encouraged by the results of our research because evidence of improved quality of life for patients is clearly evident with the standard dose regimen.”
