Corns and Calluses, what to do?

Medicated corn remover pads and over-the-counter acid products to remove corns are very popular. Such remedies can be dangerous, especially if the corn is infected or the patient has diabetes or poor circulation.  We strongly suggest seeing your podiatrist at Gentle Touch Foot Care before using any of those products, as the acid inside them can be very dangerous for your skin.

Corns and calluses are usually due to abnormalities in pressure points in your foot. Such abnormalities can be treated topically, but usually require orthotics to offload the pressure. Extreme cases may even need surgery to remedy the issue permanently.

If you or anyone you know is experiencing painful corns or calluses in their feet, visit us at Gentle Touch Foot Care. A podiatrist is the only person that is trained in a specialized field in medicine for anything concerning the lower extremity, foot and ankle, that’s why it is important for you to visit your podiatrist if there are any problems concerning your feet. If there you have any other questions feel free to contact Dr. Theall’s and Dr. Saleh’s Gentle Touch Foot Care office for all your foot and ankle needs and concerns at 973 673 – 3668.
