The summer months can be great, filled with memories and fun for the whole family. With people of all ages going out and enjoying the lovely weather everyone should take caution of possible injuries that can take place. Injuries call happen at any time but the likelihood can be higher when playing outside or enjoying a long walk on an uneven sidewalk on a breezy day.

People who ambulate with the use of a walker or crutches are usually at a higher risk from falls. It should be of note that one third of all deaths of those who are 65 years or older are due to falls. Falls can be completely preventable with the right treatment, equipment and training.

Enjoy the summer before it’s gone but always remember to take caution if you are at a higher risk for falling such as advanced age, previous injury, or diabetes. Summer is the time to let loose but always remember to take good care of yourself and stay well hydrated to avoid heat stroke or fatigue.
