May is skin cancer awareness month.

The more fair skinned you are the higher the risk over the years.   Protection with SPF 30 or over creams and  lotions is recommended whenever you are outdoors for any period of time.We provide skin exams of all our patients lower extremities and  can even biopsy a suspicious spot.  Things to look out for are new pigmented (dark) spots,  or any existing moles, or dark spots that start to bleed, change in color,  are over 6 mm in size, or have an irregular appearance.    Melanoma is the most deadly form of skin cancer, and sun exposed areas of the body should be checked regularly.
